Migration of SCC HOME for HPC Project Portal project-specific usernames to the VAST system von 2024-11-01 08:00 CEST bis 2024-11-11 23:55 CEST

The location of HOME directories for HPC Project Portal project-specific usernames on the SCC are moving from the current Stornext filesystem (Unix HOMEs) to the VAST system under under /mnt/vast-standard/home. Among other benefits, VAST will bring performance improvements, especially for small files.

Starting November 1, all new HPC Project Portal project-specific usernames will have their HOME directories created in the new location.

On Monday, November 11; the HOME directories of the existing HPC Project Portal project-specific usernames will be migrated to the new location. This will require a 1 day service interruption for the affected usernames. For the usernames whose HOME directories are being migrated, it is CRITICAL that one does not login to the SCC or have jobs running on November 11 with these usernames until after the migration is over (there will be an announcement email), because any writes to a HOME in the middle migration may or may not be migrated (or worse, partially migrated).
