Restriction of SharePoint access due to critical gap
Updates
The maintenance work on the GWDG farm (Uni/UMG) has been successfully completed. The Modern Sites are working again. It may be necessary to clear the cache of the browser used. (see https://sharepoint.uni-goettingen.de/zvw/it/info/Wiki/Browser%20Cache.aspx)
If, contrary to expectations, problems still occur, please write a ticket to support@gwdg.de with the URL of the site, the user account used and a screenshot.
Following the 0-day patch installed yesterday, SharePoint 2019 is unfortunately experiencing multiple problems in the Modern Sites .
Microsoft has already made another patch available, which will be applied today from 17:00 on the GWDG farm (Uni/UMG):

The GWDG environment (Uni/UMG) will be patched from 17:00:

The GWDG has restricted access to the SharePoint servers operated by the GWDG to the Göttingen campus, GWDG networks and VPN logins via the GWDG VPN servers. Access from the Internet is therefore currently no longer possible without VPN.
Background: Microsoft reports a critical vulnerability in the SharePoint server for which Microsoft currently does not/can not provide a patch (a 0-day vulnerability). The vulnerability would allow the execution of malicious code (remote code execution) over the network without any authentication.
Therefore, as an emergency measure, a short-term and temporary (until a patch is available or the all-clear is given) lockdown was decided.
We ask for your understanding that this restriction is necessary. Access is still possible after a VPN login.
