The website https://mysql-neu.gwdg.de is now behind our SSO Service. Users who want to use the PhpMyAdmin now, must have already used the SSO (Single-Sign-On) in the browser or first login to the SSO Service to use this website. This step is for security reasons, e.g. it prevents bot attacks.
Discontinuation of Rocket.Chat, extended End-of-Life
With Nov 1st the service Rocket.Chat enters its end-of-life phase.
What changes during end-of-life?
GWDG will not renew the licensing of the service. With the expiration of the license some functionality of Rocket.Chat may be limited in the future. The most prominent limitations are:
- no more push notifications to mobile clients
- online presence status of users (online/busy/idle/offline) is no longer displayed
What does not change,...

At this time, there are no indications that accounts have been misused, but passwords must be changed before the accounts can be used again. Please contact your responsible admins if you are affected.
Launch of the Matrix service

Comprehensive information on how to use Matrix can be found at https://docs.chat.academiccloud.de/.
Why Matrix?
The goal of the transition was to continue offering a central, simple, widely accessible, and modern communication tool. Matrix offers various advantages in this regard. For example, the...
Dear users of JupyterHPC,
our old installation of Jupyterhub 2.3.1 at jupyter-hpc.gwdg.de is nearing it’s end of life. It will be shutdown after the end of this year (2024).
Please switch to our new installation (Jupyterhub 4.1.5) at jupyter.hpc.gwdg.de (dot instead of minus in the URL), which has been available to all HPC users for a few months. If you are using your own Apptainer (formerly Singularity) containers, please note that the Jupyter runtimes inside the containers are...
Current incidents
Following an update, there are problems with the visibility of restore points and writing metadata.
We are working on a solution.
In order to make the use of the Cisco AnyConnect VPN more secure, all users of this service will, starting from Wednesday (December 11, 2024), receive an email from the GWDG as soon as they log in to Cisco AnyConnect for the first time with a new IP address.
This email will state your username and IP address and ask whether the login was actually made by you.
If you did not perform the login, the email will urge you to change your password immediately and to contact support@gwdg.de by...

Replacement systems will be available for the GWD-WinTS5 and GWD-WinTS8 terminal servers (vcenter.rds.gwdg.de) from today, 20.12.2024. As attacks on the servers must still be expected, the replacement systems will only be made available via a new, multi-factor authentication secured route. Access is now only possible browser-based via https://remote-sec.gwdg.de.
The new access method is explained in our documentation at...
The functionality “export my data” in Rocket.Chat is currently (and probably since some
time ago) defunct.
The export gets started but the concluding message with a download link is never generated
and sent.
The problem is under investigation but the expectation is that for technical reasons a
resolution is only possible towards the end of the lifespan of Rocket.Chat.
The aim is to give all users the opportunity to export their data before the end of live
of Rocket.Chat.
