Error in the macOS ownCloud client (version 6)

With the current update of the ownCloud client to version 6, a bug has been discovered on macOS systems. This bug causes files with umlauts in their file names to be deleted during synchronization.

This bug only affects the client for macOS. Windows and Linux clients are not affected. This is not a problem on our end, but rather a bug in the ownCloud software itself. We have already reported the problem to ownCloud, but are currently unable to fix the cause ourselves.

We therefore strongly advise you to ignore the update message in the ownCloud client and not to update to version 6 for the time being.
