Rancher Privilege Escalation – Maintenance from 2026-08-05 18:13 CEST

The required patch for the Rancher environment is now available and will be applied on Monday, August 10, 2026, starting at 17:00 CEST.

Following successful completion of the maintenance work, the Rancher web interface can be reopened for regular operation.

We do not expect the patch to have any impact on existing clusters or workloads. However, as with maintenance of this kind, residual risks cannot be completely ruled out.

We will provide another update once the maintenance work has been completed. Completion is currently expected at approximately 19:00 CEST on Monday.

Until the environment is reopened, the Rancher web interface at prod.rancher.gwdg.de will remain unavailable. The clusters themselves are not affected and can still be accessed directly via the Kubernetes API using kubectl.

Due to urgent security maintenance, the Rancher web interface at prod.rancher.gwdg.de is temporarily unavailable.

We expect to complete the Rancher upgrade tomorrow and restore access to the web interface afterwards.

The clusters are not affected. You can still access them through the API with kubectl. Please use the context fqdn-<cluster>.
