Firmware Upgrade for NetApp Centralized Mass Storage Systems from 2026-09-24 17:00 CEST to 2026-09-24 21:00 CEST

This maintenance has been concluded as planned.

This maintenance is now starting as planned.

On Thursday, September 24, 2026, a firmware upgrade will be performed on the GWDG’s central NetApp mass storage systems during the maintenance window starting at 5:00 p.m. These are core components of the GWDG mass storage infrastructure, on which nearly all applications and services depend directly or indirectly. The upgrade aims to improve operational stability, enable new features, and ensure the systems’ future supportability.

The upgrades will be performed during normal operation by switching functions between the systems’ redundant units in several stages. For clients, these changes are largely transparent. There may be brief periods of increased latency when accessing mass storage. No disruptions are expected, provided no unforeseen issues arise.
