As an after-effect of the worldwide DNS disruption of .de domains, some of our Matrix instances were also affected and partially disrupted until 09:00. This affected chat.academiccloud.de, chat.uni-goettingen.de, chat.umg.eu

On April 16, 2026, the OpenVPN profiles in eduVPN will be disabled.

Existing VPN connections will not be affected by this change. After that, only WireGuard profiles will be available when logging in with the eduVPN client

Thanks to improvements in the implementation of the WireGuard protocol in eduVPN, it should now work in every guest environment. Since the OpenVPN protocol is more resource-intensive, more complex to configure, and slower, we are removing it.​

The CoCalc service has been updated with new features for technical users:

• The list of GWDG chat AI models has been updated with new models.
• As a “Custom Software Environment,” an updated version of TeX-Live and the GWDG DataScience image are now available. The GWDG DataScience image is also compatible for use with Jupyter in the cloud.
